Under the 3rd phase of the Strategic Innovation Promotion Program (SIP) by the Cabinet Office, the project ‘Building a Platform for Learning and Working in the Post-COVID Era’ is being carried out. As part of this effort, in this proposal we aim to expand the LEAF system—an information infrastructure developed by the applicants to collect and utilize educational big data—in order to research and develop the Open Knowledge and Learner Model (OKLM) Digital Twin (DT), a human-centered digital twin necessary for individually optimized learning and appropriate personnel placement.
Specifically, we will extract evidence from accumulated educational big data—such as online lecture videos, learning materials, and students’ answer histories—and use this to identify learner characteristics (such as expressiveness, ability to apply knowledge, proactiveness, and mastery of skills and knowledge). Based on this OKLM Digital Twin information, we aim to realize individually optimized teaching and learning. In addition, we will use the OKLM DT for competency management, leveraging both the real and virtual worlds to place individuals in the right roles and promote work style reform.
