What is the LEAF System?
The LEAF system is a system that collects learners’ learning records and analyzes the accumulated data to provide individually optimized learning support.
Kyoto University Ogata Laboratory developed the LEAF system (an acronym for Learning and Evidence Analytics Framework). Individual educational data is accumulated each time teaching and learning activities are conducted with the LEAF system developed in the field of learning analytics. By analyzing this data, evidence is also accumulated, so that the LEAF system provides educational support for learners and instructors stably and optimally.
In other words, its educational data and analysis results become visible to both the instructor and the learners and thus transform the educational activities into scientifically based evidence. Now that the GIGA School concept and the COVID-19 have made it normal to conduct education using a personal computing device, the LEAF system supports evidence-based and summative education.
It will take 5 years to become fully proficient in using the LEAF system. In the first one to two years after installation, the user will learn how to operate the various functions of the LEAF system.
In the third to fourth year, users will not only become familiar with the operation of the system but also begin to realize its effectiveness as educational data is accumulated and evidence is shared.
In the fourth to fifth year, users will be able to use the data more efficiently.
